About this Opportunity
Do You Love to Cook? Share Your Passion and Skills with the Community!
Are you passionate about cooking and eager to make a positive impact? Heres your chance to share your culinary talents with community members who need it the most. As a culinary instructor or class assistant, you will inspire and educate participants, helping them create healthy, budget-friendly meals at home through our community cooking classes - Cooking Matters. We also need folks willing to help shop for ingredients that will be used in the class. Many options to fit your schedule.
No need to organize a curriculum or be a professional chef, just be willing to show up, lend a hand, and enjoy food with neighbors.
Responsibilities:
- Teach low-income participants essential food and kitchen safety practices.
- Demonstrate food preparation techniques and healthy, cost-effective cooking.
- Guide participants in making smart, low-cost ingredient substitutions.
- Serve as an educator and role model, empowering participants to cook confidently and healthily.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Professional culinary training or food industry experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Self-taught cooking enthusiasts with strong culinary knowledge are welcome.
- Proficiency in knife skills, basic cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and ingredient substitutions is essential.
