About this Opportunity

Amistad's Peer Support and Recovery Center is a low barrier, recovery-focused community space that works to help adults in our community who struggle with mental illness, substance use disorders, homelessness, and many other challenges. We serve an incredibly diverse group of people in a very unique space, and provide many of our community members with their only nutritious, hot meal of the day, in a setting that supports their efforts to live a sober and healthy life.

In addition to many other services we provide breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday, at no cost.

Our operation is managed by one fantastic program manager, and the efforts of Amistad members who volunteer to help. In addition to this, we need the support of regular, willing and able volunteers from the community. Tasks are varied and interesting, ranging from partnering in the acquisition of food from partner programs and donors, preparing and cooking meals, and helping with general kitchen upkeep. All of the above comes with a full measure of engagement with a diverse and interesting community. It is a place where your contribution is immediately felt, and where you can truly feel part of our community and all we are trying to accomplish.
