26-27 Groove With Me Strategy VISTA

Groove With Me is a free dance school for girls in East Harlem. We attract and engage girls during idle out-of-school time and build self-confidence to prevent risk-taking behaviors. For almost 30 years, we have been focused on fueling leadership, confidence, creativity, and discipline in young women. The program offers a safe, supportive space for self-expression and fostering positive choices to girls aged 5-18, living in East Harlem and the South Bronx. In January 2024, we opened a studio double in size. It has 4 classrooms and the ability to house 80 weekly classes with 15 girls a class, or 1200 participants. The Groove With Me Strategy VISTA will be instrumental in making sure every qualified child knows about the opportunity so that they can flourish in a safe place during this stressful time. You will re-envision upgrade marketing materials such as social media, press, flyers, and communications. Your input will be critical in securing more teachers to increase the number of dance classes we offer. Strengthening your networking skills, you will cultivate communication with hundreds of community connections. As a VISTA Fellow at Groove With Me, you¿ll gain hands-on experience in nonprofit leadership, community outreach, and program development, all while making a lasting impact in the lives of young people in East Harlem.
