About this Opportunity

Work with one of Maine¿s largest hunger relief organizations and play a vital role in the community to end hunger in Maine by 2030! As part of the Ending Hunger Corps, this position bolsters a strong partnership between MCHPP and SMCC - Brunswick where the VISTA can live for free on campus. MCHPP¿s mission is to offer dignity and empowerment by providing all members of our community with access to healthy food.

As part of a cohort working to end hunger across the state of Maine the Greater Brunswick Ending Hunger VISTA will develop a SNAP enrollment program for more families to access food resources, implement a Client Council to amplify the voices of people with lived experiences, and develop a robust and comprehensive program evaluation strategy assessing MCHPP¿s programs to ensure the agency meets goals and objectives. Finally, the VISTA will work with SMCC - Brunswick to improve the Captain¿s Cupboard, a school pantry providing resources to students.

Along with the free housing at SMCC - Brunswick MCHPP offers food resources and travel reimbursements. The VISTA will live in Brunswick supporting the greater community through MCHPP¿s expansive county wide programs. Food insecurity exists not because of a lack of food, but because of poverty. MCHPP is committed to helping people access free food in order to spend their resources on other necessities and niceties. The VISTA¿s year long efforts will expand access and improve services building the capacity and sustainability of MCHPP¿s programs.
