About this Opportunity
This is an AmeriCorps national service position. It is contingent on funding and opening until filled. Jefferson Land Trust is a grassroots community organization with a mission of ¿helping the community preserve open space, working lands, and habitat forever. We accomplish this work by permanently protecting and caring for properties to promote species and structural forest diversity, abundant wildlife habitat features, healthy waterways and wetlands, productive agricultural soils, and ecologically-sensitive forestry. One of our methods to protecting these invaluable lands is through Community Forestry. In 2025 Jefferson Land Trust will open Chimacum Ridge Community Forest for all county residents and visitors alike. This 915 acre working forest is a great example of how community can build regenerative relationships our natural environment. As a Forest Enhancement Steward, you will help care for the forest ecosystem to ensure these systems grow resilient to our changing climate and can be passed on to future generations by performing forest health assessments, removing noxious weeds, reducing wildfire fuel loads, maintaining publicly accessible trails and signage, delineating critical and sensitive habitat and helping lead volunteer work-parties. Position will also allow for shadowing and networking with a variety of land conservation and ecological enhancement professionals in the field. We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews immediately. $3,157.14/mo.
