*AMERICORPS: Youth Villages AmeriCorps

Youth Villages AmeriCorps is a full-time service opportunity for individuals committed to creating safe learning environments for youth experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges. Members are presented with opportunities to engage youth who have otherwise experienced repeated failures and low self-concept with the traditional learning process. Members provide tutoring, life skills, service learning, afterschool and summer programming, campus events, and leadership opportunities to youth in care. The Youth Villages AmeriCorps team transforms student apathy into student engagement using a variety of experiential approaches such as West African drumming, service-learning, gardening, outdoor kitchen sessions, vocational programming, service engagement, horsemanship, art, and other methods. Members also support local nonprofits and organizations in the community through weekly service projects and provide natural disaster response throughout the state of Georgia. Members are eligible for HOUSING AND MEALS, LIVING ALLOWANCE, HEALTH INSURANCE, AND OTHER BENEFITS, INCLUDING EDUCATION AWARD.
