About this Opportunity
This is an AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. The Disability Empowerment Center supports people living with a disability in King County. We believe everyone deserves to be treated with equity, to be included, and to have choices. We help people with disabilities access resources to lead successful and independent lives. Disability knows no national, societal, or cultural boundaries. Anyone can become disabled¿through birth, accident, illness, war, poverty, or advanced age. Most people experience disability at some point in their lives, particularly as they grow older. Approximately 563,000--or 25%-- of King County residents have a disability. The King County Disability Consortium represents people with disabilities. They aim to increase awareness of the issues facing the disability community. The member will support the consortium through event planning and community education. We will conduct rolling review of applications and interviews until the position is filled. Monthly stipend amount: $2,438.
