25-26- Will County Habitat -Housing Action Corps- Volunteers

The Volunteer Coordinator will serve with Will County Habitat for Humanity in Joliet, IL from August 2025-2026. Will County Habitat for Humanity (WCHFH) is part of Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. Housing Action Corps members receive custom training, support, and networking opportunities in housing and community development, in addition to the traditional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA. Since 1988, WCHFH addresses the lack of decent affordable housing in Will County by helping low-income families purchase affordable homes and make necessary repairs. Habitat homeowners build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage, which helps families improve their living conditions and gain financial stability. The Volunteer Coordinator will develop strategies to enhance our volunteer recruitment, community outreach, and marketing to create long lasting and meaningful relationships with volunteers that turns them into champions and advocates for our mission. Our ideal candidate is passionate about housing, motivated to learn and grow through the VISTA program, and comfortable tackling projects independently and with a team. They should demonstrate enthusiasm for fostering community connections and volunteerism, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. Experience in event planning or volunteer management is a plus! Candidates should think creatively to develop new volunteer recruitment strategies and be able to manage groups of volunteers effectively in different environments. This position offers shared housing and utilities as a supplemental benefit.
