25-26 -Will County Habitat- Housing Action Corps - Homeowner

The Homeowner Services Specialist will serve with Will County Habitat for Humanity in Joliet, IL from August 2025-2026. Will County Habitat for Humanity (WCHFH) is part of Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. Housing Action Corps members receive custom training, support, and networking opportunities in housing and community development, in addition to the traditional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA. Since 1988, WCHFH addresses the lack of decent affordable housing in Will County by helping low-income families purchase affordable homes and make necessary repairs. Habitat homeowners build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage, which helps families improve their living conditions and gain financial stability. The Homeowner Service Specialist will develop and implement enhanced client services for our Homeowner, Home Repair, and Community Project programs that include client recruitment, tracking, scheduling, and support. Our ideal candidate is passionate about housing, motivated to learn and grow through the VISTA program, and comfortable tackling projects independently and with a team. They should demonstrate interest in affordable housing and strong interpersonal skills, including empathy for the unique challenges in our communities. They should also be able to coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders effectively. This position offers shared housing and utilities as a supplemental benefit.
