25-26 Urban League Broward - Housing Counseling Corps

The AmeriCorps Housing Counselor will serve with the Urban League of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, FL from August 2025-2026. Urban League of Broward County is part of the Housing Counseling Corps initiative of Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. Housing Counseling Corps members receive custom training, support, networking, and post-service employment opportunities in the housing counseling field, in addition to the traditional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA. Founded in 1975 as an affiliate of the National Urban League, the Urban League of Broward County is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering communities and changing lives in the areas of education, entrepreneurship, jobs, justice, housing, and health. Our community is in need of more housing knowledge and resources, such as home purchasing, rental counseling, and foreclosure prevention counseling. In collaboration with our Housing Division, the AmeriCorps Housing Counselor will enhance the housing-related services we provide to the community, improving outreach, client support, and data management. They will also study for and take the HUD certification exam to support the development and provision of housing counseling services. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; as well as the ability to use office equipment such as copiers and scanners. They should show patience, compassion, and commitment towards our program and community. Candidates must be willing to become HUD Certified and ideally would have an interest in pursuing housing counseling after service.
