About this Opportunity
The Bay Area Women¿s Sports Initiative (BAWSI) is a nonprofit founded in 2005 by women¿s sports legend Marlene Bjornsrud and soccer champions Brandi Chastain and Julie Foudy. BAWSI mobilizes the women¿s sports community to engage, inspire, and empower the children who need us most.
Since our founding in 2005, BAWSI has focused specifically on programs for girls from under-resourced neighborhoods who have the least access but the most to gain from sports participation. Our programs include factors that help increase resilience in children living with adversity.
As a VISTA, you will improve and expand your skills in systems and finance while gaining valuable nonprofit experience. This position requires strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. The role also requires attention to detail, documentation, and follow-through in project work. An interest in and familiarity with operational improvements and communications will be useful in creatively gaining support for BAWSI.
Working with BAWSI staff, the VISTA will be part of a team that supports programs aimed at improving physical and mental health outcomes for BAWSI Girls (located in the San Jose, CA area) through physical activity and sports participation.
Furthermore, we know that girls who play today become women who lead. We are helping to create future leaders in our businesses and local industries.
