University of Dayton - Urban Ag & Food Security VISTA

The University of Dayton's Office of Energy and Sustainability (OES) operates a vibrant urban agriculture program that includes raised garden beds, a hoop house, composting operations, an apiary, and chickens. In 2024, the program produced over 6,000 pounds of fresh produce, which was donated to UD¿s Food 4 Flyers pantry and Miami Valley Meals to address food insecurity. By integrating agriculture, composting, and community partnerships, OES fosters health on campus and in the Greater Dayton community.
