About this Opportunity
This is an AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. The Nisqually River Education Project (NREP) is a watershed education program. We provide service-learning to connect Washington state learning standards with local environmental issues. We aim to help youth develop a connection with their own watershed and inspire watershed stewardship. Our work is built on research that shows the positive impact of outdoor learning on student achievement. We work with a diverse set of partners including local schools, teachers, students, and volunteers. NREP serves over 60 teachers and more than 2,000 students each year. Activities range from scientific monitoring to habitat restoration to field investigations. Programming sites include beaches, riparian zones, wildlife refuges, salmon hatcheries, and more. The member will deliver programming through outdoor learning projects and in-class lessons. We will conduct rolling review of applications and interviews until position is filled. Monthly stipend amount: $2,438.
