About
The Community Human Services (CHS) Food Pantry serves over 200 families per week by providing them with fresh produce and other essential items. The CHS Food Pantry is unlike other food pantries in that much of the food provided to families is fresh fruits and vegetables. Customers are allowed to personally select food from the indoor market because no two families are alike.
The role of the volunteers is to assist during preparation and distribution. This involves sorting food (including overripe produce), stocking shelves, preparing the indoor market, and assisting families. It may include heaving lifting of up to 50lbs, but it is not required. Customer service skills are important as volunteers may be assisting families directly. Understanding different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds is helpful.
Volunteers are needed on Wednesdays 8 am-4:30 pm and Thursdays 10:00 am and 6:30 pm.
Mission Statement
CHS empowers individuals and families to live in stable housing, connect to community resources, build relationships, and access quality food.
