About

Maui Humane Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was first established as a non-profit in 1953, incorporated in 1962 and is the only open admission animal shelter on the island of Maui. Our mission is to protect and save the lives of Mauis animals, accepting all in need, educating the community, and inspiring respect and compassion towards all animals."

Our volunteers are absolutely vital to the success of Maui Humane Society. These dedicated animal lovers donated 16,000 hours of their time to working with homeless pets last year! Our volunteers make an incredible difference in our shelter, with our animals, and throughout the community, and we are honored to work alongside them.

Mission Statement

Maui Humane Society cares for more than 4,900 animals a year and offers high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to the public for owned pets. The shelter has a robust foster and volunteer program, transfers hundreds of animals through Wings of Aloha flights to adoption-guaranteed homes, practices Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) a humane method of reducing the community cat population, and provides food and supplies at no cost to disadvantaged pet owners through the 4EverPets community outreach program. MHS' Humane Enforcement Department is contracted by the County of Maui to rescue sick, injured, abused and lost animals, 365 days a year. Visit mauihumanesociety.org for more information.
