About
Eastern Maine Medical Center strives to provide exceptional primary and specialty healthcare with a passionate pursuit of excellence in patient safety, clinical quality, and service. Our mission is to care for patients, families, communities, and one another Founded in 1892 as Bangor General Hospital, EMMC became Eastern Maine General Hospital in 1896 as most of the patients treated came from outside of the city of Bangor. In 1969 the hospital became Eastern Maine Medical Center, reflecting the spirit of the expanding hospital. EMMC continued to expand throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, recently moving outpatient services to the Union Street Campus and the Brewer facility. Today volunteers serve on all three campuses.
