About

Seeking volunteers for our newly designated 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline of Westchester County. Our program is located at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Harrison Campus, supervised by the Crisis Prevention and Response Team (CPRT). Paid positions also available.

Qualifications: • Must be 18 years of age or older, High School diploma or GED required • Ability to commit to a minimum of at least one 3 hour shift per week (maximum 5 hour shift) • Ability to work collaboratively with the Crisis Prevention and Response Team • Professional experience/background in the mental health field preferred but not required • Personal and/or lived experience welcome • Good listening skills, ability to be empathic, patient, non-judgmental required • Bilingual/Spanish speaking candidates welcome • Ability to work in a potentially high stress and fast paced environment • Strong computer skills required • Ability to multi-task and adequately manage calls while simultaneously documenting Responsibilities: • Answering calls received through National Suicide Prevention Lifeline • Provide crisis intervention, support, and information and/or referrals • Adhere to assigned work schedule; be punctual • Attend mandatory supervision and all required trainings as scheduled • Adhere to all policies and procedures What we provide: • Intensive 40 hour suicide prevention training • Ongoing supervision from Crisis Prevention Response Team clinicians • Ongoing in-service training Benefits: • Personal satisfaction • Contribution to the community • Enhance active listening, communication, and documentation skills

Mission Statement

St. Vincent’s Hospital Westchester offers inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction treatment services at its campus in Harrison and at off-site locations in White Plains, Tuckahoe, and Port Chester. A division of Saint Joseph’s Medical Center, St. Vincent’s also provides mobile crisis services for Westchester County, manages residential services for 1,016 individuals in Westchester County and New York City, and operates three opioid treatment centers in New York City.
