Ten Lives Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization located in Rhode Island. We are dedicated to providing dignity to cats in our community while reducing the homeless cat population and inspiring change. Our foster-based program is 100% volunteer-powered and community supported. All of our vital life-saving funds come from generous supporters who believe in our mission statement. Since 2018, Ten Lives has provide life-changing services to more than 2,000 cats in our community.
Mission Statement
Ten Lives Cat Rescue is committed to saving homeless, abused, and abandoned cats by providing veterinary care, rehabilitation services, and then placing them into loving adoptive homes. We are dedicated to giving a second chance to those who have been forgotten: seniors, the physically and emotionally scarred, the behaviorally challenged, and those who need critical medical care. Along with our immediate mission to rescue cats, Ten Lives is dedicated to educating communities about cat overpopulation and inspiring change.
Mission Statement
The Lazzy Fund
In 2019, The Lazzy Fund was established to help cats in need of veterinary services beyond routine care. The program provides second chances for medically fragile cats, including unowned and surrendered cats. The Lazzy Fund was established in honor of a community cat named Lazarus, who needed extensive veterinary care to recover from years of neglect that he experienced while living outside. With the support of generous donors, Lazarus was able to receive the urgent and specialty care he desperately needed and overcame the incredible odds he faced. The Lazzy Fund has provided emergency care, consultations with various veterinary specialists, dental surgeries, and extended care for chronic conditions.
Forgotten Feline Program
In 2019, the Forgotten Feline program was established to provide foster services to under-socialized cats. This population of cats are often overlooked or deemed unadoptable by rescues and shelters due to lack of resources. The Forgotten Feline program utilizes dedicated volunteer fosters and various techniques to provide a safe environment where under-socialized cats can gain confidence and thrive. In our experience, providing the correct foster placement, resources, and support leads to remarkable transformations. This program serves a broad group of cats, including unowned stray cats and surrendered cats.
Community Cats
In 2020, the Community Cat program was established to provide free spay/neuter and vaccination services to unowned community cats. After working in the community, volunteers recognized a need to support cat caregivers, who were providing daily food and shelter, but could not afford vet services. Community Cat volunteers work with caregivers to identify cats in need of services and to coordinate care. Through partnerships with local clinics, cats receive spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, and flea and parasite treatment. When needed, cats receive care for wounds, matting, and injuries. Cats who receive services through the Community Cat program are evaluated to determine if they are a candidate for foster placement. Those who are not candidates are returned to their outdoor homes and caregivers
Spay it Forward
In 2020, Spay it Forward was established to reduce barriers to affordable spay/neuter services for cat guardians. With grant funding from The Rhode Island Foundation, TLCR provides vouchers for spay/neuter and vaccinations for $25, normally $85. Sponsorships are available for recipients who cannot afford the cost of a voucher.Volunteer Opportunities
