The Charlie Center

The Charlie Center is a non-profit community center serving individuals experiencing homelessness in North Austin and surrounding areas, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Hours of operation for our clients are 10am-1pm. Volunteers are to arrive at 9am and stay until 1:15pm.

WHAT WE DO:The Charlie Center meets physical needs through hospitality and navigation services.Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we provide a nutritious hot homemade meal and navigation services to individuals experiencing homelessness.The Charlie Center is a navigation center whose goal is moving people from homelessness into housing. And our continuous work is loving people between the two.
HOW WE DO IT:The Charlie Center has served neighbors experiencing homelessness with compassion and excellence. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, our staff and volunteers take a process-driven, holistic approach to help neighbors navigate from homeless to housed. And with your support, more than 150 neighbors have moved into permanent housing.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP:Onsite Volunteers:Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we are looking for volunteers to serve in-person at The Charlie Center.

Cook A Meal:We also have opportunities for volunteers to sign-up to bring a main dish or a side dish. This is a special opportunity where you can sign up for one of our pre-planned meals, download the recipe, make the dish at home, and bring it to The Charlie Center on the designated day and time. We ask that every volunteer that signs up to be a home cook uses fresh, not expired, clean ingredients. We also ask that every volunteer follows the recipe so we can communicate allergy needs to our unhoused clients. We want to give our very best to these individuals.
