About this Opportunity
Do you have a high-grade camera and enjoy photographing nature? Do you already spend time in Shelby Park and Bottoms and/or attend Friends of Shelby events throughout the year? We are looking to grow our Volunteer Photographer roster and would love to have you join the crew!
What would volunteers be doing in this role?
Volunteer photographers help Friends of Shelby at our year-round events, races, projects, etc. by taking high-quality photos that we can use on our social media, website, and other promotional materials (with credit given to the photographer). We're looking for a mixture of candid and posed photos of visitors at our events. You do not need to have any formal training in photography -- this is a great opportunity for a hobbyist, amateur, or professional photographer!
What is the scheduling like?
Interested volunteers will need to attend a short training that will go over our organization and what type of content we're looking for. This is a virtual training (held on Zoom) that should take no longer than 2 hours of your time total. Once a volunteer is trained, you will be contacted either monthly or quarterly (depending on how many events we have coming up) with updates on upcoming events. These updates will also include a sign-up sheet with the available dates and times, and you may self-schedule as you wish from there. You may volunteer as much or as little as you like; we just ask that volunteer photographers try to volunteer at one event per year (for a total of 2-4 hours depending on the type of event).
What's Next?
Once you express interest, our Community Outreach and Volunteer Leader will contact you to schedule a training time. After that, you will be added to our mailing list for future opportunities!
