2026 Summer BreakSpot Reading Ambassador Program: Silver Lakes Middle

The Literacy League is looking for Volunteers to help promote summer reading at Silver Lakes Middle School Summer Breakspot site location. The Reading Ambassador Program will begin on June 22nd until July 31st.

Summer BreakSpot Ambassadors will provide enrichment activities including: - Read a book aloud to the children - Promote the community library and literacy resources already at the site - Encourage children to participate in the Broward Libraries summer reading program.

Reading Ambassador Schedule:

• 10 Minutes - Welcome & Introductions
• 20 Minutes – Read Aloud
• 10 Minutes – Promote Summer Reading

As a Summer BreakSpot Ambassador, your flexibility is crucial! Because the BreakSpot program is free to the community, we do not know in advance how many children will be in attendance. It could be low attendance, or it could be much more children than usual.
We ask that you do not get discouraged if the attendance is low but to just engage with the children who are there. This work makes a difference!

Reading Ambassadors should be aware that the youth taking part at both locations range in age from 11 to 16 years old.
