Business Administration Volunteer
Location: Indianapolis, IN (In-Office Position)

Position Overview
Tangram is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Administration Volunteer to support the daily operations of our organization. This volunteer opportunity offers hands-on experience in administrative support, data management, reporting, and nonprofit operations. The volunteer will work closely with the finance and administrative teams, contributing to the organization’s overall efficiency and impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with data entry and the maintenance of organizational records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger updates.

  • Support the tracking of spending and budgeting to help ensure financial accountability.

  • Help prepare internal and external reports for organizational stakeholders, including funders and regulatory agencies.

  • Participate in the preparation of budget materials and monitor financial performance against approved budgets.

  • Assist with audit preparation and help ensure compliance with nonprofit financial and administrative standards.

  • Provide general administrative support, such as invoice processing, filing, and organizing digital documentation.

  • Support the tracking and documentation of grant-related expenditures and fund allocations.

  • Perform basic data analysis and assist with special projects as needed to support process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with administrative and financial processes (experience with nonprofit operations is a plus).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience with accounting or administrative software (QuickBooks or similar) is a bonus.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Interest in supporting a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

Schedule
This is an unpaid volunteer position. Volunteers are asked to work in-office 2–3 days per week for 3–4 hours per day, with scheduling flexibility to accommodate school or other commitments.
