About this Opportunity

Washington Park Cemetery has been determined eligible for Nomination to the National Historic Registry!

National Historic Landmarks are buildings, sites, districts, structures, and objects that have been determined by the Secretary of the Interior to be nationally significant in American history and culture.

We have an immediate need for an experienced or professional historian, archaeologist, or architectural historian to help complete the survey work for Section 106 Review or National Register preparation. The complete nomination form is almost ready to be submitted to the SHPO for review and comment. To be considered complete, the nomination must meet certain submission standards. After a complete nomination is submitted to the SHPO, a staff member is assigned to the project to provide comments, in case revisions are necessary. Once the nomination is deemed ready, it is scheduled for a Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (MOACHP) meeting. The MOACHP is a body of preservation professionals and lay people appointed by the governor to review National Register nominations and provide input on preservation issues.
