Family Research Attendant - Washington Park Cemetery

Immediate Need: ​Many families would love to visit their loved ones at the historic Washington Park Cemetery, but for one reason or another, are unable to locate them. 

We are in the process of creating a Geospatial Survey that will be accessible to descendants to assist them in visiting their ancestry, however, the grounds are quite large and in order to provide the educational opportunity to as many youths as possible, it is necessary to wait until the GIS survey is complete. The GIS map will guide families and descendants within inches of their loved ones. It will also ensure burials and headstones are not disturbed during the restoration. 

For now, we are locating family members the traditional way, using the original paper maps and online burial records.

If you would like to help our families by locating their loved ones in the records and meeting with them at the site for their, oftentimes, emotional reunion. 

This work involves responding to emails and messages and researching records using a computer. Locations in some areas may involve protective clothing, boots or sturdy shoes, and insect repellents.
