HELP OUT: Point Loma Farmers Market

Devoted to Youth now hosts the Liberty Station Farmers Market every Saturday. The proceeds of the market go toward charities that support families and children, as well as food/donation drives. Devoted to Youth needs volunteers to run the market as smoothly as possible so that their small staff team can focus on making it a bigger weekly market. They want the market to be at a scale where it can help all of San Diego.

Beginning on March 22, Devoted to Youth will be at the Liberty Station Seahive Parking Lot on Saturdays instead of Point Loma High School. 

Volunteers are needed to help with setting up, tearing down, cooking at a food booth, supervising the kids area, and staffing the info our booth. Event Set Up volunteers will be setting up the food booths, kids area, and helping vendors. Market Support volunteers will be taking food orders, cooking, kids area, and helping vendors. Event Breakdown volunteers will be cleaning up food booth, breaking down food booths and kids area, helping vendors, collecting tables, chairs, and umbrellas.

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

• Attire: Wear comfortable clothing. Wearing sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen is recommended. Please bring a black t-shirt in case you help in their food booth. This opportunity takes place outdoors with plenty of shade.

• Bring: Backpack to store your personal items.

• Physical Requirements: Volunteers may lift 40 lbs or more. Being able to lift up to 40 lbs is not required to participate. This project is able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations by providing seating and sedentary tasks such as taking food orders, staffing the info booth, or supervising the kids area to ensure the children's safety. The space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible.

• Waiver: Volunteers will be required to sign a waiver for Devoted to Youth when they arrive on site. 

• Weather: This event takes place rain or shine. It is only canceled in the event of especially inclement conditions.

• ​Note: You must download the HandsOn Connect app to your smart device to electronically sign the waiver and check in at this volunteer opportunity. The HandsOn Connect App can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play. Volunteers that do not sign in will automatically be marked as not attending at midnight the day of their shift.
