About this Opportunity
Volunteers are needed to help with prepping and serving meals on weekdays, between the hours of 10 am - 1 pm, at the St. Louis International Senior Center in south St. Louis city. We have an African group on Mondays, Chinese on Wednesdays, Albanian on Thursdays and Vietnamese on Fridays. Most groups have 35-40 participants, some who speak minimal English. Volunteers also may lead or assist with recreational activities such as arts and crafts projects; chair yoga/tai chi; field trips; and teaching basic English. Our senior center director is on site to assign and oversee tasks as is a group leader who speaks the native language of our participants. Please note that this is an ongoing activity, with participation expected nearly every week. It is NOT a one-time occurance. Required Screenings: All senior center volunteers must complete a Missouri Family Care Safety Record (Worker Registration) form that our agency processes for $15 fee. Volunteers also must obtain a combined City/County criminal background check, either from the St. Louis City Police Department ($9 fee); Monarch Immigrant Services ($15 fee); or online: https://www.slmpd.org/images/RequestforRecordCheck.pdf
