About this Opportunity

Attention all golf enthusiasts!

Have you ever dreamed of swinging a club on the lush banks of the James River?

Well, grab your grass whips—sorry, we mean "clubs"—and join us at Sails Angels for a day of River Golf like no other! This isn’t your typical golf game. Instead of putters and irons, you'll be wielding what we affectionately call "idiot sticks." Yes, they look like golf clubs, but surprise—they have a blade! Our unique course challenges you to a different kind of swing as you help us clear out invasive species that are crowding our beautiful riverbank.

While you may come for the golf, you'll stay for the gratification of restoring the natural habitat. This volunteer opportunity is perfect for those needing to complete community service hours or anyone looking to make a positive environmental impact. As you hack away at pesky intruders like kudzu and phragmites, you’ll not only improve your swing but also the ecosystem. It’s a bait and switch that both nature lovers and golf fans can feel good about. Plus, you’ll get the chance to meet fellow volunteers who share your enthusiasm for conservation and, perhaps misleadingly, golf.

So, are you ready to trade the fairway for the waterway? Call Tom Lewis at 804-334-8877 to sign up for this one-of-a-kind volunteer experience. Bring your sense of humor and your willingness to help, and prepare for a day of River Golf with a twist. Remember, it’s not just about removing invasive species; it’s about taking a swing at making a difference.
