About this Opportunity

Join the James River Park System and your Wayside Springs neighbors to learn about native and invasive plants and get your hands dirty removing invasive plants to preserve the tree canopy and begin restoring this special habitat. This will be a recurring event the second Friday of every month.

Please meet at the entrance of Wayside Springs at 10am for introduction, tools, and plant identification basics before we begin removing invasive shrubs and vines. The park is located near the intersection of New Kent Ave and Prince George Rd at approximately 4900 New Kent Ave. Please be considerate when parking in the neighborhood.

If you arrive late, you must have your own gloves and tools.

Participants must bring their own water and should wear long pants and long sleeves to protect themselves from poison ivy, thorns, and insects. Hand tools and gloves will be provided for those who need them.

Any youth under 18, even if accompanied by an adult, must email a completed Youth Waiver Form to [email protected] before the event to be able to participate. Any youth under 16 must work with their accompanying adult the entire time. No drop offs.

*Volunteer attendance will be verified online. If volunteers need written attendance, volunteers must bring their own volunteer log: VOLUNTEER LOG (LINK)
