About this Opportunity

The mission of CASA of Richmond & Petersburg is to ensure safe and permanent homes for abused and neglected children who come before the  Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Train to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate and commit at least 18 months to help ensure safe and permanent homes for abused and neglected children who appear before the judges of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court (JDR).

CASA Volunteers serve as advocates for children who have been abused and neglected in the cities of Richmond and Petersburg. CASA volunteers (1) thoroughly investigate the abused/neglected child’s situation; (2) submit to the Court a written report including recommendations regarding the child’s best interests; (3) monitor the case to ensure that the child receives services ordered by the court; (4) aid the Guardian ad litem (GAL), an attorney who represents the child’s legal interest; and (5) serve as a Mandated Reporter of child abuse/neglect. Volunteers for CASA are thoroughly screened and trained to advocate for abused and neglected children.

Applications for Spring are currently being accepted. Interested candidates should be at least 21 years of age.

The time commitment for the spring project is April 21, 2025 - May 15, 2025.
