About this Opportunity

Interested in supporting and empowering farmers from refugee backgrounds who are striving to build sustainable livelihoods in Nashville? Come volunteer with The Nashville Food Project’s Growing Together program!

The Nashville Food Project’s Haywood Lane Garden supports Growing Together, a market garden program, which expands access and opportunity to growers from agrarian backgrounds. This garden space is multipurpose as it functions as a classroom and experiential learning space for the farmers and their families, a space to reconnect with the land and cultural traditions, and a community space to connect with each other and build relationships. Volunteers will work with designated staff to support critical needs of the program.

As a volunteer, you’ll help strengthen the program by assisting the farmers grow food to sell and by supporting site maintenance to increase the capacity of our market staff. Come roll up your sleeves, get your hands in the soil, and check out the abundance of traditional South Asian (and Southeastern) produce our farmers are growing in the space!

Come roll up your sleeves, get your hands in the soil, and help sustain a thriving community garden that grows more than just vegetables!
