About this Opportunity

Please note that "expressing interest" on our page on Hands On Nashville will not sign you up for this shift nor does our page on Hands On Nashville reflect the accurate number of spots available for any given shift. See below for more information.

The Community Farm at Mill Ridge is TNFP’s largest community garden site, located in Southeast Nashville at Mill Ridge Park. Through an intensive, year-long public planning process, neighbors expressed a strong interest in a portion of the park being used for community agriculture. Community garden participants at this site hold individual plots that they can use to grow food for themselves, their families, and their community! Help us increase access to land, growing resources, and a vibrant garden community for those in Nashville by volunteering at one of our workdays!

What to Expect from the Opportunity:
We’re expanding our garden, and we need your help! Volunteers will assist in creating new garden plots, making room for even more community gardeners to join the fun. Under the guidance of our experienced garden team, you'll learn essential gardening skills like aerating the soil, outlining plots, and preparing the earth for a fruitful growing season. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a beginner, this is a fantastic opportunity to get hands-on experience and learn the ins and outs of in-ground growing. Come dig in with us and help cultivate something special for the whole community!

Registration:
We use a third-party website for our shift sign ups. After expressing interest, our Volunteer Engagement Manager will send you a link to sign up for your desired shift. At this point, we will share more information about the workday, including details on what to wear/bring and directions to the farm.
