About this Opportunity

NAMI Ending the Silence is an engaging presentation that helps youth (middle schoolers and high schoolers) audience learn about mental health, including the warning signs of mental health conditions, suicide warning signs, and what steps to take if they or their loved ones are showing symptoms of a mental health condition.

Ending the Silence presentations include two leaders: one who shares an informative presentation and a young adult with a mental health condition who shares their journey of recovery.

NAMI Indiana staff train and work with the speakers to help craft their presentations, and volunteers can have the opportunity to practice their presentation with program management and observe presentations before their first time volunteering.

NAMI Ending the Silence training is self-paced and takes an average of 2.5 hours non-stop. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one presentation a month for a year. Some presentations are over Zoom and some are in person. Qualifying Young Adult Volunteers are 18 - 35 year olds with lived experience with a mental health condition(s).
