About this Opportunity

QUICK OVERVIEW
Every day people are forced from their homes due to fires, storms, or other disasters. Our Disaster Action Team volunteers respond day and night to meet the immediate needs of their neighbors. Support may include financial assistance for food, clothing, and lodging, emotional support, replacing prescription medications, and other critically needed items.

IMPACT

  • The American Red Cross responds to a disaster every 8 minutes. That’s an average of more than 60,000 disasters every year. Disaster Action Team volunteers provide care, comfort, and compassion to neighbors affected by these emergencies.
  • The Red Cross provides all the training needed and all new members are paired with an experienced member to provide guidance.
  • As a Disaster Action Team member, you will learn more about emergency management, interfacing with the fire department and other emergency officials as well as other community partners.
