About this Opportunity
When: We work in the park: Mondays from 8 am to 11 am, Wednesdays from 9 am to 12 pm, Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm, and Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm.
About: South Side Park is a 65-acre city park that is just one mile from the Pitt campus. It was neglected for decades and a team of volunteers has been working to revitalize and reforest it. Since 2018, over 2,200 native trees and shrubs have been planted. We would like help in fighting invasive plants, planting new trees, mulching, weeding, and caring for the park in general. Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you're okay with getting a little dirty! We volunteer in most weather, but please email me at [email protected] before arriving, so I can confirm we will be there.
Where: If you are driving a car, please park at 2000 Julia Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15210, which is off of Arlington Avenue. If you are taking a bus, you would exit the bus at 18th Street and Mission Street and walk into the park from Mission Street.
