2025 CCCS Asylum Seeker Support St. Teresa's

St. Teresa's Asylum Seeker Satellite Site,operated by the Catholic Charities Community Services Immigration Division, provides social workers and case managers specifically for new arrivals.

We are a group of social workers and case managers who create a welcoming environment for asylum seekers. We provide assistance that includes the provision of social services, access to goods, advocacy, focus groups, and general support. Assistance can be crisis intervention and/or more long-term planning to help people adjust to life in NYC.

What you will do:

• Greet families when they arrive Engaging children with art activities 
• Offer/Distribute snacks and water to all families that arrive
• Accompany clients to set up a cell phone at nearby Verizon, apply for medical insurance at nearby hospital, or to nearby post office to mail documents or set up a P.O. box. Some clients will need support in these essential aspects of settlement in New York.
• Assist case management staff with admin tasks as needed

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) Speaker required. Other languages are a plus!
• Customer service mentality
• Patience and a warm personality
• Independent thinker but able to follow directions from supervisors
• Empathetic

Schedule:
Monday-Friday 9:00 AM -1:00 ; 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
