About this Opportunity
Titi plants are normally shrub-sized, and are kept that way by regular habitat-maintaining fires. Unfortunately, prior to becoming a wildlife management area, Escribano experienced a long period of fire suppression, and the titi in the property’s wetlands has become overgrown to the point that it is detrimental to other plants and wildlife in the ecosystem.
Our partners with The Longleaf Alliance are working to cut the overgrown titi, and thus restore the habitat, but need help from volunteers to move the cut branches and logs into piles outside the wetlands. Volunteers make this process go dramatically faster, providing a great service to Florida’s natural habitats!
Volunteer opportunities are available year-round.
