About this Opportunity

DWC accepts donations Monday through Friday, while serving hundreds of folks experiencing or transitioning away from homelessness every week. We're in need of volunteers to help fold clothing and organize shellves while staff accept and sort donated items.

Why: The sooner we're able to process and put away in-kind donations such as clothing and home goods, the sooner we can get it out to the folks that need it!

Who: Founded in 1978, the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving women and gender diverse individuals experiencing homelessness.

What to Expect:
  • Folding clothing
  • Organizing shelves of donated items such as clothig and toiletries
  • This opportunity is available on weekday mornings and early afternoons.
What's Required:
  • Volunteers must be over the age of 18
  • Volunteers must complete a New Volunteer Orientation
  • Physical demands are about the same as cleaning out a closet at home - there are comfy chairs if you prefer to sit while you work, and you're welcome to take breaks as needed
