Organizational Description: 

Northside Coalition for Children, Inc., is hosting their annual citywide back to school rally on August 2, 2025 from 10am-2pm at John Marshall High School in the gynasium. We are partnering with Richmond Public Schools Summer Fest as well. 

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose

Volunteers will have a variety of stations to work with and where they would like to serve on the day of the rally located in the gym of John Marshall High School. 

1) We will need 8-10 volunteers to help serve the hot meals to families and children who attend 9:30am-12:30pm and 12:30pm-2:00pm.

2) We will need 10-12 volunteers to hand out the backpacks 

3) We will need five volunteers to deliver the lunches to the vendors

4) We will need two volunteers at the registration table to register the vendors and volunteers who arrive

5) Clean up from 2:00pm-3:00pm

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
1) Duties of volunteers is to greet the families and children as they enter and visit the vendors. 

2) Set up and break down before and after the rally

3) Serve as a runner for the vendors to include the Barbers 

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
All volunteers will receive intake at 9:15am on Saturday, August 2 located in the gym of John Marshall High School

Date: August 2

Time: 8:30am-2pm or 3pm

Other Information (if applicable):

  • How volunteer hours will be verified (eg, attendance marked in system or need to bring a volunteer log) within a week from the back to school rally
  • Orientation or training information: August 2 at 9:15am
  • Recommended attire: Dress comfortable with comfortable shoes
  • Parking information: Park in the parking lot closest to the football field 
  • Anything volunteers need to bring: water, your medication if applicable, your energy!
