About this Opportunity
At Camp Erin, volunteers are the heartbeat of the weekend. Whether you’re bunking with campers as a Cabin Big Buddy, welcoming families at registration, running an activity, or helping behind the scenes, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment for kids who are grieving. Your presence makes a real difference. Sometimes that looks like listening to a camper share about their person who died, other times it’s joining in a silly game or sitting quietly beside them when words are hard to find. Every encouraging word, every smile, every shared meal helps campers feel less alone and more understood. Because of volunteers, Camp Erin is more than just a camp. It becomes a space where kids can honor their loved ones, connect with peers who “get it,” and rediscover joy. In giving your time and heart, you’re offering grieving children something they’ll carry long after camp: the knowledge that their grief matters, and that they don’t have to navigate it alone.
The 2026 Summer Camp is June 5th - June 7th!
Volunteer shifts vary depending on your role. Some positions, like Cabin Big Buddies, require being present the entire weekend, while others like Day Support, Registration, or Load-In/Out are shorter shifts on specific days. We’ll talk through the role you’re interested in and match you with the time commitment that works best.
We’re looking for volunteers who are compassionate, reliable, and open to supporting kids and teens in their grief. You don’t need to be a therapist... just willing to listen, encourage, and create a safe, fun environment. Some roles (like Grief & Growth Facilitators or Behavioral Specialists) do require professional training, but most only ask for an open heart and commitment to being present.
Volunteers gain a meaningful, hands-on experience supporting grieving kids, while building skills in compassion, teamwork, and leadership. You’ll connect with an amazing community of fellow volunteers, receive training in grief support and child safety, and walk away knowing you made a real difference in the life of a child. Plus, you’ll share campfires, laughter, and memories that stay with you long after the weekend.
