About this Opportunity
Opportunity Overview:
The Appleton Farms Livestock team is looking for a volunteer to help with hose repair and other general fixes around the barn. As a Hose Fixer, volunteers will go through all of the livestock hoses, fix any leaks, and make sure that they all have working connecting ends. We are hoping to have someone to get them all sorted for the livestock team before we start using them in the spring time!
We will provide tools, hose parts, and fittings for the volunteers work in the dairy barn. The right fit for this volunteer role will be able to use tools, know how to fix hoses, and work independently. We are hoping that a volunteer will be able to stay on and help with additional repairs that could use woodworking, plumbing, or electrical repair skills!
Reports to: Livestock Education Staff
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
- Hose repair - fix leaks, ensure hoses have working connecting ends
- Communicate with staff about hoses that require replacement
- Additional repair/maintenance projects as needed
- Comfortable working independently
- Adhere to The Trustees safety protocols
- Log volunteer hours
- Must be familiar with hose repair and have tool experience
- Preferred experience with woodworking, plumbing, or electrical repair
- Strict observance to Trustees safety protocols.
- Must report service hours via the Trustees volunteer website
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
- Please note: This role may require a background check
Time Commitment:
Flexible schedule as long as Appleton Farms is open - dawn to dusk Monday-Saturdays at your own time and schedule.
