About this Opportunity
Special Olympics Florida is excited to host the State Stand-Up Paddle Championship at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota on Saturday, August 16th!
We are looking for Volunteers to assist with the following duties:
- Assist with Event Set-up
- Assist with checking in Athletes for competition.
- Serve as Results Runners and Timers
- Prepare and Present Awards to Athletes
- Assist with meal check-in and distribution
Volunteers are also needed as Board Handlers during the competition. Volunteers in this position will assist with getting boards into the water and in position for the athletes. These volunteers should be comfortable lifting in excess of 30lbs. If you are interested in this position, please contact us at [email protected].
No knowledge of the sport is required and all training will be provided on-site. All volunteers will receive a T-Shirt and volunteers that work a shift over four hours are also provided lunch. A record of community service hours can also be provided upon request.
Volunteer shifts are recommended for those 11 years and older. Volunteers under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. If you are interested in volunteering with someone under the age of 11, please reach out to us so we can determine if we have the right role for them!
