About this Opportunity

About the Friday Night Supper Program: The Friday Night Supper Program was founded in 1984 and provides warm, nutritious meals to Boston's hungry, homeless and low-income population. Since 1984, the FNSP has provided over 13,000 home-cooked meals a year to the homeless and hungry people in Boston, while doing so in a safe and hospitable environment. Through power outages and blizzards FNSP has served its guests- they haven't missed a Friday yet! If you're interested in providing a donation, please click here to view the Friday Night Supper Program's Wish List. About the project: Volunteers will be helping fill and distribute to-go meals, goods, and clothes to Boston's hungry out of the front doors of the Arlington Street Church. Some volunteers might also be called upon to help with dishes, meal packing, lifting heavy bins, and cleaning as well. Volunteers assigned to the evening shift are to stay through clean-up (7-8PM), unless prior notice is given. FNSP is happy to cater to folks who would like less social contact. As always, FNSP is a community committed to dignity and is doing their best to help their guests in this time of need! *The Evening Service Shift volunteer orientation time will be 5:15PM. Any volunteer who misses orientation may be subject to dismissal from the week's service. Please arrive on time and ready to help out! *Late volunteers may be subject to dismissal regardless of sign-up status. In the event that you are not able to make your shift for any reason, please cancel your digital sign-up slot ASAP so that another volunteer may take your place.   T-Accessibility: Arlington (Green Line) - located in the basement of ASC, also known as Parish Hall.Note: this project is not wheelchair accessible.  At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
