Join the Friends of Fort Parker State Park! The Friends of Fort Parker State Park is a 501c3 non-profit organization that supports the park in educating visitors about the outdoors, such as wildlife, conservation, and outdoor recreational activities.

The Friends of Fort Parker State Park:

  • Meet 4 times a year, once a quarter at Fort Parker State Park
  • Volunteers at and/or raises money for park programs and special events
  • Annual special events include:
    • Lakeside Legacy: May 3, 2025
      • Entry and all activities free
      • Family-friendly fun!
      • Archery, Canoeing, Tour boat rides!
      • Get hands on with wildlife
      • Chuckwagon
      • Dutch Oven cooking demonstration and samples
      • Tons of fun booths!!
    • Paddling Trail Clean-up: September 27, 2025
      • Park entry free for clean-up participants
      • Remove trash and debris from the Limestone Bluffs Paddling Trail.
      • Canoes/kayaks provided by the park on a limited basis.
    • Lakeside Christmas Event: December 13, 2025
      • Donate a new unwrapped toy for free entry; Children 12 and under always free entry
      • Photos with Santa, Mrs. Clause, and the Christmas beaver
      • 6 Ornament Crafts, 18 Carnival Games, Prizes Galore!
      • Cocoa and cookies
      • Dutch Oven cooking demonstration and samples
    • New Year''s Hike and Scavenger Hunt: December 31, 2025 9:30pm-midnight
      • Park entry fee: $5 per person for 13 and over, Children 12 and under are always free
      • Black-light night hike 9:30pm
      • Riddle Scavenger hunt 10:30pm
      • New Year''s Countdown @ midnight
      • Coffee, hot cocoa, and cookies
    • Kid Fish Event: January 24 & 25, 2026
      • Park entry fee: $5 per person for 18 and over, 17yrs and under free for this event
      • Fish for rainbow trout in 3-acre Lake Springfield bait/poles provided
      • Each participant takes home a FREE brand-new fishing pole!
    • Additional educational programs provided throughout the year. Check out the Event page on the Fort Parker State Park website or the park Facebook page for fun upcoming programs!
