About this Opportunity
The Volunteer Caregiver Respite Program is offering volunteers the chance to join in on a wonderful opportunity to socialize with isolated seniors while offering their caregiver a respite break.
How it works: Volunteers visit older adult once a week to chat, tell stories, play card games, watch TV, go for a walk together, etc. No direct caregiving! This includes: No transporting the client, toileting, bathing, dressing, or feeding. We offer full training. No experience is required. Volunteers wear a mask and social distance during the duration of the visit, and visits occur outdoors when weather permits.
Qualifications & Requirements: Volunteers must have their own vehicle. Volunteers should be polite and friendly, compassionate, and be able to pass a background check.
Time commitment: Volunteers are matched with clients based on mutual availability, so schedule is flexible. Volunteers visit at least once/week for 2-3 hours at a time. Volunteers commit to 1 year of service.
Location of work: Clients are located anywhere in Washtenaw County. Volunteers can identify how far they are willing to drive to a client. Virtual visits may be available to volunteers depending on the needs of the families on waitlist.
Volunteers must be age 21 or better to apply. Provide your age and phone number when applying.Email [email protected] or call 734-971-9781 ext. 377.
