Position: Volunteer Public Relations Specialist

Commitment: Flexible hours (AprilOctober 2025) | Remote or hybrid options available
The Opportunity:We are preparing for a major outdoor fundraiser this October, and we are looking for a retired PR professional or student studying public relations, journalism, or communications to help us build visibility, excitement, and community engagement leading up to the event!
Youll help shape the story of our impactand inspire others to join our mission.
What Youll Do:

Draft and distribute press releases about our event and organizationPitch story ideas to local newspapers, TV stations, blogs, and community newslettersHelp identify media contacts and build a basic media listAssist with drafting talking points and preparing spokesperson materialsMonitor any media coverage and help amplify it through our channelsOptional: Support event-day media engagement if available

Were Looking for Someone Who:

Believes in the power of education, community, and social justiceHas experience or coursework in public relations, journalism, or communicationsWrites clearly, professionally, and persuasivelyIs organized, dependable, and responsiveFeels comfortable reaching out to media outlets (or is willing to learn!)

Bonus Skills (Not Required, but Awesome):

Previous PR or media relations experience (internship or professional)Familiarity with press release formatting and media pitchingSocial media amplification (sharing coverage on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
