About this Opportunity
At Friends For Life, every animal matters. Founded in 2002, Friends For Life introduced the first no-kill shelter model to Houston saving animals regardless of their breed, age or condition.
Houston-grown, were here to help our neighbors care for the pets they love.
Were not finished until every animal has a safe home. Until then, well be innovating, improving and tracking results to find the most effective ways to save lives.
As a dog behavior volunteer, you will work hand-in-hand with our behavior staff and learn how to work with the dogsin our program.
The dogs that live at the shelter are dogs that we have not been able to get out into a foster home due to reactivity that needs to be managed. This could include an array of behaviors. Maybe they're afraid of other dogs, or scared of loud trucks outside. We will fully train you on dog body language, enrichment, and reactivity so you are able to safely work with these dogs to help rehabilitate them and in turn find their forever homes!
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity that other shelters don't offer. If you truly love dogs and want to learn more about how to care for them, this opportunity is for you!
As adog behavior volunteer, you will help provide various enrichment needs to ourdogs(think kongs and nose work!). Enrichment volunteers are essential to help improve the daily lives of ourdogs at the shelter.* Our Behavior volunteer program is a five-step program, and you'll start out as a BV1 volunteer (behavior volunteer - level 1). Ourbehavior program is truly one-of-a-kind. You'll learn such much, likehow animals communicate, different types of enrichment, how to read body language, learning theory, and so much more.
Current Behavior Dog Volunteer shifts from from 2-5PM every day - including weekends.
Sign up today to help ourdogsget thesocialization and enrichment that they deserve!
