About Domestic Truth Foundation

Domestic Truth Foundation is a Houston-based nonprofit serving survivors of domestic violence through crisis intervention, case management, healing programs, advocacy initiatives, and systemic reform efforts. As we expand programming and pursue larger funding opportunities, strong grant positioning is critical to long-term sustainability.

We are seeking a highly skilled, disciplined, and strategic Grant Writing Fellow to help build and strengthen our institutional funding capacity.

This is a selective, writing-intensive leadership role.



Fellowship Overview

The Grant Writing Fellow will work directly with executive leadership to research, draft, and organize competitive grant proposals aligned with survivor services, mental health programming, advocacy reform, and community initiatives.

This role requires exceptional writing ability, analytical thinking, deadline management, and the ability to translate complex social impact work into structured, measurable funding narratives.

This is not an entry-level support position. The selected Fellow will contribute to high-stakes funding opportunities that directly impact program expansion.



Core Responsibilities

Grant Research
Identify aligned federal, state, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities
Analyze eligibility requirements and strategic fit
Maintain organized grant tracking systems

Proposal Development
Draft compelling needs statements and organizational overviews
Translate program goals into measurable objectives and outcomes
Edit and refine grant narratives for clarity and competitiveness
Organize supporting documentation and attachments

Strategic Positioning
Align language with funder priorities
Contribute to long-term grant pipeline planning
Support outcome measurement framework development

Infrastructure Development
Build reusable grant templates
Develop structured language libraries
Assist in creating organized internal grant systems



Ideal Candidate

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate:

Exceptional writing and editing skills
Strong research and analytical ability
Precision, attention to detail, and deadline discipline
Ability to synthesize data into persuasive narrative
Professional maturity and discretion
Capacity to work independently with accountability

Preferred Academic Backgrounds:

Public Administration
Public Policy
Nonprofit Management
English or Professional Writing
Social Work (macro focus)
Psychology (research-focused)
Pre-Law or Law-track

Prior grant writing experience preferred but strong writing ability is required.



Commitment

1020 hours per week
Minimum 6-month commitment required
One-year commitment strongly preferred

We are seeking candidates interested in building long-term grant infrastructure, not short-term resume experience.



Leadership Advancement Pathway

This fellowship is structured as a pipeline into future compensated development roles. Fellows who complete a minimum of one year and demonstrate exceptional performance will receive priority consideration for future paid grant or development leadership positions as funding expands.

Resume
One professional or academic writing sample (35 pages preferred)
A brief statement of interest (300500 words) explaining why they are interested in grant writing within the nonprofit sector

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a brief grant narrative exercise to assess structured writing ability.
