Haiti-Now is looking for a volunteer playwright to write a play that connects the issues of domestic servitude, extreme poverty, and foreign policy within Haiti. See here: https://youtu.be/ReuVGKj4JD0
Haiti- Now is dedicated to empowering Haitian girls living in domestic servitude to overcome poverty and exploitation to achieve economic security.
"Your first assignment will be to start a fundraising campaign. Haiti Now will provide further guidance for you to have a quick and successful fundraiser."
Role brief: This Volunteer role requires, a women screenwriter preferably Haitian, who works with director and producer to write on the topic of domestic servitude in Haiti, for a theatre play
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a script derived from their own ideas or other existing ideas or work.
- Responsible for describing the stories in detail, including physical environments and the moods of the characters.
- Must take into account the ideas of directors and producers they are working with.
- Should possess the ability to work and collaborate with others.
- Must be willing to rewrite or make various versions of the scripts they are working on.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Candidates who have, or are enrolled and yet to complete a degree, in asubjectsuch as drama, theatre studies, performing arts, music or English.
- Ability to speak and understand Creole/ French is preferred.
- Fluent in spoken and written English, able to communicate clearly and consistently.
- Minimum volunteer hours expected: 10 hrs. per week.
- Excellent time management.
- The ability to create believable characters through well-written dialogue.
- Stupendous research skills.
- Creativity and the ability to express yourself both orally and in writing.
- Self-motivation and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
