About this Opportunity
Do you enjoy reading? Nature? People? If your answers are yes, yes and yes, be a bookstore volunteer at the U.W. Arboretum. Volunteers offer friendly, knowledgeable assistance to customers. You'll greet visitors and offer information and assistance by directing them to publications of interest. Bookstore volunteers answer a variety of questions and direct visitors to other places and resources in the Arboretum. You'll operate the cash register, answer the phone, and help with inventory and ordering. Doing all this you'll become familiar with U.W. Arboretum history, mission, policies, grounds, and special events; and you'll share that knowledge with others.
Bookstore volunteers must be courteous and outgoing, have a desire to learn about the Arboretum and share knowledge with visitors. Training is provided for this position, including operating the cash register and simple computer work. Arboretum staff and experienced volunteers provide the required training. Volunteers are asked to make an initial commitment of two shifts (4 hours each) per month for six months following training.
Shifts are available weekday mornings and afternoons, and weekend afternoons.
