About this Opportunity
Hospice provides special care, comfort, and support to those facing a life-limiting illness. Volunteers are a large part of hospice care and make an INCREDIBLE difference in the lives of others. You can volunteer in-person, over the phone, or donate comfort items or gifts for our staff to distribute. Opportunities are available throughout Montgomery and Greene County! The address listed for this opportunity is our administrative office. You will visit with patients wherever is convenient to you within the Dayton region.
Hospice volunteers can contribute in a variety of ways:
- Provide companionship by just being present with the patient, listening to their stories, doing activities, etc.
- Assisting patients with documenting their stories or writing cards or letters.
- Conduct video chats with patients and their out-of-town loved ones.
- Helping tidy up a patient's room or maintain their house/yard.
- Assist our chaplains with bereavement services and support for families after patient deaths.
- Create or collect items to be donated to our patients.
Any volunteers wanting to visit or talk to patients/families directly must undergo an onboarding and training process, including a background check and drug screen.
